Polaroid product photography using a Polaroid I-2 and SX-70 using external ring lights
Years ago, I used my Canon 5D Mark II to experiment with product photography, purely for fun. I'd stage simple setups, shoot digitally, and upload the results to stock photography websites. It was a playful way to explore light, form, and detail.
Recently, I found myself wondering what that same experiment would look like through the lens of instant film. What happens when you trade precision and control for unpredictability and character?
To find out, I recreated the setup using two Polaroid cameras: an SX-70 loaded with 600 film and an ND filter, and an I-2 with I-Type film. For lighting, I used two ring lights (5500K, 5700 lumens) to keep the scene bright and consistent. The background was a large sheet of white paper.
Below are photos showing both the setup and the results.
